word的意思主要是“单词,消息”,
如：There's an "L" in the word "Letter".在单词“Letter"中有一个字母“L”
a word 或words 可以表示为word的单数或复数
如：Word came that he'd drop on me tonight.有消息传来他今晚会来拜访我
word 如果前面不加任何冠词它的意思一般译为“消息”
还有就是一些固定的用法,如
Have word 听说、得知、获得消息；
have a word with sb 意思为“和某人聊天”
eg:I wonder if I could have a word with your brother?不知道我可否与你的兄弟聊一下?
have words with sb 意思为“和某人吵架”
It's the man that I had words with in the department store yesterday afternoon.昨天下午在百货商店和我吵架的就是那个男的.
