一个比较简单的方法是看先行词放进从句中,从句句子是否完整（需不需要加介词）.
以一楼的句子为例,第一句的先行词放进从句中,从句完整,即：I visited the place.
而后一句必须加介词,即：I was born in the place.(be born + 介词 in + place)
从句完整的就是which,需要加了介词才完整的就是where.
再举个例子：
The city (which I like very much) is very clean.(I like + the city)
The cityy (where he studies) is very clean.(He studies + in + the city.)
再换两句：
This is the book (which I bought the other day.) (I bought + the book.)
This is the book (where I got the answer the other day.) (I got the answer + from + the book.)
